December 20, 2024 - A total of $17,500 is being awarded to three Comal ISD campuses who are winners in the ‘Choose Kindness’ challenge hosted by the Mckenna Foundation.
“We are thrilled to announce that we will offer three awards for the first, second and third place winners of the Choose Kindness Video Contest,” said Mckenna CEO Alice Jewel.
Receiving the news that three campuses in the district were being awarded prizes, was a surprise since initially, the Foundation was offering $10,000 each to a school in Comal ISD and New Braunfels ISD.
“What a wonderful way to support our children and our campuses,” said Comal ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. John E. Chapman III. “A huge thank you to the Mckenna Foundation.”
In first place is Pieper Ranch Middle School, receiving $10,000 for its “Color the World with Kindness” video.
In second place is Johnson Ranch Elementary School, receiving $5,000 for its “Johnson Ranch’s Legacy #Choosekindness” video.
In third place is Garden Ridge Elementary School, receiving $2,500 for its “A Drop of Kindness” video.
Comal ISD had 17 campuses submit videos in the Choose Kindness contest. Entries were evaluated by a panel of community judges based on creativity, thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, originality and a level of student involvement. The contest opened December 2 and concluded December 13.
Congratulations!
