This week voters approved an increase in teacher and staff compensation along with the addition of four new campuses, buses, elementary playgrounds and safety and security measures for Comal ISD.

The lanes were filled with athletes ready to bowl their best scores during Comal ISD's annual STAR bowling tournaments with fellow students, teachers and parents on hand to cheer for them.

Rahe Bulverde Elementary was one of 12 local schools selected for a grant which will boost its science resources and provide more hands-on investigations and experiments for students.

The Comal ISD Board of Trustees recognized student and staff awards and achievements Wednesday, Oct. 27, during its board meeting.

As the football season continues, seven Comal ISD seniors are guaranteed to play in the new year in the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game in the Alamodome.

In its third year, the Comal ISD Bass Fishing Club is continuing its winning streak in the Hill Country Division of the Texas High School Bass Association tournament circuit. The team brought home the Overall School Champion trophy on Oct. 16.

For 74 years, a select group of rising seniors from across the United States participate annually in a government leadership program which helps develop civic leadership and pride in American citizenship.

More students are finding their passions through Comal ISD's Intramural Sports Program. From basketball, volleyball and soccer to sport stacking, fencing and bass fishing, the Intramural options provide students with opportunities to learn a sport, gain skills and be a part of a team.

Two sisters from Freiheit Elementary along with their siblings spent Saturday, Sept. 11, honoring the lives lost on that same day 20 years ago. Donations from their lemonade stand are going to the Comal County Sheriff's K-9 unit.

One student's legacy continues to inspire students, teachers and community members to fight for a cure for childhood cancer as well as raise awareness of the disease. Her Hero Fund through the St. Baldrick's Foundation recently hit a milestone and is truly making a difference.
