Welcome to Indian Springs Elementary
Home of the Leading Coyotes!
It is my pleasure to welcome each and every one of you as a part of a wonderful community of learning with a growth mindset. Indian Springs staff creates an environment where students grow academically and emotionally but also they learn to discover the leader that exists in each of them. As a Leader in Me campus, our students live and learn by the 7-Habits and incorporate them into their learning. Our teachers integrate the 7-Habits into instruction developing highly engaging and challenging lessons where students feel a part of their own learning each and every day. Increasing ownership of choices and next steps with increased awareness of daily progress, raises student performance and achievement. Our students are presented with content that will require them to expand their thinking to ensure ALL students learn no matter their ability level. Our goal is to meet the needs of ALL our students.
Indian Springs teachers and staff are committed to Preparing Leaders of the PACK through Passion, Attitude, Commitment and Knowledge.
As we prepare to begin our sixth year as a school community, we celebrate our accomplishments. Indian Springs was nominated as a 2017 National School of Character and will be recognized in Viriginia in October.
This school year, we have a very special group of 5th graders who entered Indian Springs as kindergarteners in 2012, the same year we opened our doors to students. During this school year, we will take many opportunities to recognize our growth not only in size but as a community where we have learned to count on each other and build strong relationships that cannot be broken.
Indian Springs is a campus with many green features, which has provided a foundation for students to enjoy the opportunity to grow vegetables on our rooftop garden. Fourth grade students will experience maintaining a garden, growing some scrumptious vegetables and learning about eating healthy. Students reap the benefits and will prepare vegatables they grow and with the guidance of our master Chef Mario taste some great recipes. We continue to focus more on the care of our environment with the implementation of a recycling program. This year we will begin an Environmental Club. Be on the lookout for more information.
The word is out, Indian Springs ES is the place to be! When we first opened in 2012, we opened with approximately 560 students, which was 100 over our projection. Our second school year, we opened with over 650 students. For 2017, we are anticipating just under 800 students.
Today, we begin with the End in Mind, thinking about where we want to be and what we want to accomplish by the end of this school year. How will we get there? As a strong community, we can accomplish anything. Together we will work to develop Leaders of the PACK through Passion, Attitude, Commitment and Knowledge. Looking forward to many exciting memories ahead. Feel free to contact me by phone or email should you ever have any questions or concerns. Communication is key to student success. It is going to be a great school year!
